How do I turn off Teams typing indicator?

I do not like that when I type something in a chat and hit enter, my cursor goes back to the typing field. I usually am involved in a conversation, and I usually wait until they respond before I answer. I don't want them to think I am still typing because it's confusing for the other person, so I always have to click out of the typing field. This seems like an unnecessary step.

    There is someone I work with who complains when I start a response and get interrupted by higher priority activities. They always comment about me taking too long to respond because they believe that, when the dots start, I should be dedicated to responding to their thread. This is the chat equivalent of someone walking into your cube and just standing there.

    Give us a registry entry. Don't make us use another editor and paste into Teams. And no, I cannot change others' behavior.

    You said, "To turn off the Teams typing indicator, open the Teams app, go to your profile, and click the “Privacy” tab. Then, uncheck the box next to “Show when I’m typing” to turn off the typing indicator.

    But I don't see the box or the words "Show when I'm typing." I included a screenshot above, so you can see what I see.

    100% agree

    I find it to be the most distracting and annoying feature of Teams.

    Thank you everyone EXCEPT the guy who was supposed to help above - Teams - please fix this so we can turn off the "Typing Indicator" feature if we wish. This causes unnecessary wasted time and confusion.
