Only 2 channel audio

Hi

I have a htpc and stream from ex netflix HBO viaplay etc. I use the digital out on mainboard realtek alc887 to a DD, DTS reciever and it have worked flawless.  Even DD+ movies gets tranformed to a 5.1 signal and trensfered with coax cable.

Now with 1909 update, there is only 2channel out from edge, firefox etc. Something has changed.

A good choise to test is with Dolbydigital site, where you can either play "the Leaf" in the browser or download the same mp4 file.

I have reinstalled realtek and I have 5.1 output from the mediaplayer in windows, VLC  and any other player. But in a browser I only get 2channel audio.

Do you still have a System Restore Point to go back before Edge was updated? This is one way to get the old Edge back then you can block the Update to Chromium, or do the simple easy steps here to have both side-by-side here: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/144061-enab...

    Hi Greg, I got glad news

    With the REALTEK patch I managed to get 5.1 out from testfiles from Edge Chroium.  But nontheles Viaplay and probably not HBO.  Netflix app is still running solid and works great in surround.

    So its a almost god to go solution but not really.

    I managed to Acess to old Edge and this ofcourse solved all y problems. Not all guides out there are correct, there is no easyway just to rightklick and uninstall.

    But for today This link you gave med worked.

    There are a few things I got stuck at that could be worth mentioned.

    It wasnt nessecary to use the blocker toolkit to prevent upgrades. At the end you need to upgrade Edge Chromium anyhow to get Edge Legacy to work.

    So when reading the tutorial, we need to get some new folders in the GPedit that you can set, that changes regedit.

    So first step is to downlad policys (not the beta browser or anything you must get in mind) ITs the button right next that says POLICY

    There are some files that need to be copied to the right places. Make sure you get the right files beacues the dotn appera in the right folders. So it was a little tricky to find them alla and place them at the right place at the c:\

    Now we should have some new folders in win+R GPedit:msc  called EdgeUpdate there we set it to Use "Edge side by side"  This creates the line in regedit we want.

    (There is no way to wirite this line in Regedit directly, you really have to download the files, copy them and then Gpedit)

    Soo  are we good to go? no way, you cant even find tha old Icon.

    Go to   win+R 

    shell:appsfolder

    There you will find the greyed out old forgotten edge. Pin it to start or taskbar.

    Good to go?

    no no,, now you have to reinstall edge Chromium or use the update if its avilable.

    I Downloaded a stable Edge chromium and installed it.

    NOW THE OLD ICON for Edge Leagacy IS WORKING

    AwsomeDD 6.1 in my amplifier and viaplay.se the intro for Bohemian Rhapsody screams out in all speakers in perfection.

    I guess this solves it for HBO as well.

    Almost solved it. I realise now.

    All testfiles, like dts files, DD files, AAC files. Mp4 files etc on the webb works great, both in any player and in the new edge chromium. The amp switches to the right format.

    Well if you play youtube it will still embedd this as 5.1 but its only 2 channel.

    Same happens sadly when streamin viaplay and HBO. Only 2 channel audio. But with last edge before update it worked flawless.

    So nontheless, the new browser aint as good at handling audioformats as before.

    Anyhow I came a long way.

    (All the dolby digital fixes with home theater with drivers and software didnt fix this, or I did som wrong)
