Hi
I have a htpc and stream from ex netflix HBO viaplay etc. I use the digital out on mainboard realtek alc887 to a DD, DTS reciever and it have worked flawless. Even DD+ movies gets tranformed to a 5.1 signal and trensfered with coax cable.
Now with 1909 update, there is only 2channel out from edge, firefox etc. Something has changed.
A good choise to test is with Dolbydigital site, where you can either play "the Leaf" in the browser or download the same mp4 file.
I have reinstalled realtek and I have 5.1 output from the mediaplayer in windows, VLC and any other player. But in a browser I only get 2channel audio.

Do you still have a System Restore Point to go back before Edge was updated? This is one way to get the old Edge back then you can block the Update to Chromium, or do the simple easy steps here to have both side-by-side here: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/144061-enab...
(Anytime there's a Shawn Brink tutorial it's safe and he'll walk you through if needed)
I solved it !!!
I was close for several days but didnt realize a few small things.
This method worked for me
A few reminders o you dont go wrong:
uninstall drivers
you need to rightclick the patchprogram and run as an administrator, otherwise it wouldnt work for me.
So you will use the patch program, to patch the files in the installations folder of the realtek original driver that yuu just downloaded and are about to install.
( I tried to patch existing files in the system32)
Then start regedit and add the path before restarting computer set as 1
Now it isnt working. I just realized that you have to go into de device seup and go to the advanced menu and in the roll down menu select Dolby digital. When trying to play testsound will only come out of 2 spakers, But stay selected on that.
Now run a testfile in any browser and your good to go. DD is played.
If you play a movie in a browser that is DTS you have to go into that menu of the audiodevice and change that dropdown menu ( wich contains mostly of 2 channel choises) and select DTS instead.
I could never figure out that that drop down list of testfiles also was a masterswitch that decided what to come out.
if you google Alan Finote Realtek, He made a excelent software.
It fixes everything automatic, just remember to go on the advanced tab and roll down and select the DD test file.
So anyhow, any installation you choose as long as you get the Dolby digital and the DTS in the bottom of the advanced tab your good to go.

I tried all the links above.
sadly Chrome doesnt use flags anymore. I tried atleast 10 diferent browsers now.
I made a sucessfull install with Dolby taking these well made instructions
http://trickstertech.blogspot.com/2016/12/how-to-install-dolby-digital-audio-on.html
Nontheless still 2 channel from any browser.
Im Trying to dig deeper inte realtek. Trying different patchingtools that says it should work beacuse stuff aint patched correctly.
Patch the realtek drivers folder before installation, make sure the right line in regedit is there.
I also managed to make a sucessfull installation of this and got Dolby menus in the settings for the unit. But still only 2channel from browser.
Nevertheless I got 5.1 out on evry playbacksoftware on the computer. Its like browsers wont pass the DD or DTS signal to the soundcard.
I read about have old Edge and Edge Chromium at the same time but I'm not a developer so I dont have the levels in regedit as needed.
Hi Fredrik.
Sorry about the late reply but I was getting no notifications about your replies all day.
See some resources I found on enabling 5.1 Dolby sound in browsers:

Let me know if any of these help. I'm still researching this.
So to test this
Make sure you have an regular computer with built in soundcard an 3 or more analog outputs? (no fancy flippable thing that can be carried around)
An htpc or a gaming computer with a motherboard size if a pizza.
If you have 2 desktop speakers let them play. Now go to setup and change to 5.1 speaker setup and plug in headphones in the rearspeaker output.
Play the testtones in the speakersetup to make sure you nailed it and have surround signal in the headphones.
https://www.dolby.com/us/en/guide/dolby-atmos-trailers.html
Now play the testfile from dolby digital that been saved to the desktop. (Press the leaf button, then click the 3dots i right low corner to save) You should have amazing surround.
Now play direectly in any browser you like including the new edge. No surround at all.
If you have the old edge you will still have surround output.
Now this is strange isnt it!!
