Start with Microsoft’s hacked-account Sign-in Helper because the migrated Minecraft entitlement is attached to the Microsoft account that was compromised, then submit the transaction ID to Minecraft Support only if purchase verification is requested.
1. Recover the Microsoft account
- Open Microsoft’s hacked-account recovery guide and launch its Sign-in Helper. Enter the email address or phone number previously associated with the account. The tool provides the applicable recovery option and may offer contact with an agent. ^1^
- If directed to the recovery form:
- Provide a separate working email address where Microsoft can contact you.
- Complete it from a device and location previously used with the account, if possible.
- Include as much historical information as possible: old passwords, original account details, Xbox console hardware information if applicable, and other Microsoft services used.
- Microsoft sends the result to the working contact email, normally within 24 hours. If verification fails, the form can be retried up to twice daily. ^2^
- A compromised-account report is also available at:
https://aka.ms/recovermyaccount
Although hosted through Xbox Support, the route is available to Microsoft account holders generally. ^3^
Do not post the transaction ID, migration email, email address, recovery codes, or screenshots containing personal details in this thread. Microsoft Q&A contributors cannot access or restore accounts.
2. Submit the Minecraft ownership evidence securely
Use Minecraft Support at:
https://aka.ms/Minecraft-Support/
In the ticket, state that:
- the original Mojang account was migrated to a Microsoft account;
- the Microsoft account was compromised;
- access to the migrated Minecraft profile was lost;
- the original transaction ID and migration confirmation email are available;
- the Microsoft account recovery case number is available, if one was issued.
Attach the evidence only inside the official support case or when the assigned agent requests it. Minecraft Player Care uses transaction IDs to verify Mojang accounts and Minecraft purchases made before July 25, 2022. Microsoft Support handles Microsoft Store purchases made after that date. ^4^
The transaction ID and migration email can support purchase or ownership verification, but they do not by themselves bypass Microsoft account recovery.
3. If the normal recovery route does not offer the needed option
Go to Microsoft Support, enter compromised Microsoft account, select Get Help, and then Contact Support if displayed. This routes the request to the available support option. Agents cannot manually change account details or simply issue a password-reset link without the required verification process. ^5^
If the sign-in screen explicitly says the account is locked, use the reinstatement link beginning with aka.ms/ shown in that lock message. Submit one request and wait for the Online Safety team’s email; duplicate requests can slow the review. ^6^
4. After access is restored
Before changing the password, run Windows Security → Virus & threat protection → Scan options → Full scan → Scan now. Then change the password and review account settings for unauthorized changes. ^1^
