Spam on my iOS calendar from Outlook

I keep receiving Spam on my iOS calendar and it blocks slots for days and weeks, a couple of times for months. The first time it appeared, I called Apple support and they showed me how to get rid of it as it came from my outlook (as the events go straight into my iOS calendar). Now, it seems to be appearing almost several times a week. So every time it appears, I have to go to Outlook, look for the event- Word by Word (and it is case sensitive) type it out exactly and find it, report Junk, delete it, then go to my settings in iPhone, go into my calendar under outlook, turn the toggle off and on. This is how it disappears. I have already created rules, reported multiple times and it keeps coming in. This is really annoying and frustrating. Each time, I am so cautious not to click on any Call to Action buttons on my calendar or links by accident. Oh, by the way, they keep coming with different addresses and subjects. So I do not know how to stop this. For some reason, it does not appear on my MacBook Pro though my calendars are synced.

Hi,

Hi,

I am afraid this is an ongoing problem and you cannot do much in this case.

Via HornBlower's post here:

This is a know issue. Microsoft is aware of the problem but there is currently no fix. Unless you are in an IT Managed Environment there is nothing you can do to stop them.

Possible Workarounds (IT Managed Environment)

If your organization has a Microsoft Defender for Office 365 subscription, there are steps you can take to mitigate the impact:

If you are in an IT Managed environment there are Mail Flow Rules that your IT Admin can implement that will block all external Calendar invites (and allow for specific exceptions):

This is a known issue, and there is currently no documented fix to stop these spam calendar invites completely for Outlook.com/home accounts.

Supported actions from the available guidance:

    1. In Outlook, keep reporting the related messages as junk/phishing to improve filtering.
    2. If the spam event appears in Outlook for iOS, deleting the event does not send a response to the sender.
    3. On iPhone, check whether the spam is coming from a subscribed calendar or profile:
      • Settings > Mail > Accounts > Subscribed Calendars and remove anything unrecognized.
      • Open Calendar > Calendars, look for suspicious calendars or calendars using a .ics URL, then delete them.
      • Go to Settings > VPN and Device Management and remove any unknown profile.
    4. Since rules and blocked senders have already been tried and the senders/subjects keep changing, those measures may not stop this scenario.
    5. Use the feedback path in new Outlook to report each occurrence: Help > Feedback > Report a problem.

For the specific behavior where it shows on iPhone but not on MacBook, the documented iPhone checks above are the relevant path because spam events can come from subscribed calendars or hidden sources on the phone.
