I need to delete a spam meeting invitation in Outlook. I don't want to select "delete and decline" because I don't want to send an email to a spammer. I have searched online but haven't found an answer. I finally physically disconnected from the internet. However, when I tried to "delete and decline," the spam meeting, I got the message "Couldn't delete event." The spam event then reappeared on my calendar. Especially on my smartphone this appointments are super annoying because they take up more space than my real appointments!

I think I found one workaround for deleting a spam invitation without declining it. I did this on my iPhone. With the mobile Outlook app, it seems there's no requirement to send a decline.
Thank you for sharing your feedback and concerns. I completely understand how frustrating this situation can be, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to explain your experience.
Currently, the available workaround is to use the Classic Outlook desktop app, where you can still delete a meeting using “Do Not Send a Response.” I understand this might feel inconvenient, and I’m sorry if this seems beyond your current setup.
If the event is clearly spam, another option is to simply delete the meeting and report the email as junk, as I mentioned earlier.
I understand this isn’t an ideal experience, and your feedback is very valuable. Thank you for being part of the community
Dear Shoots
Thank you for contacting the Q&A Forum!
I completely understand how overwhelming it can be when spam meeting invitations clutter your calendar, and I appreciate that you want to remove them without notifying the sender.
First, I’d like to share some insight: the new Outlook (Web and Windows) no longer includes the option to delete a meeting with “Do Not Send a Response.” This means you cannot perform this action in the new Outlook experience. This feature is only available in the Classic Outlook desktop app. If you’d like to use this option, you can switch back to the Classic Outlook desktop app by clicking “Go to Classic Outlook” in the app (if available).
Once you’re in Classic Outlook, navigate to your Calendar, right-click the event, select Delete, and then choose Do Not Send a Response.
After you’ve finished, you can switch back to the new Outlook anytime using the “Try the new Outlook” toggle in the top-right corner.
If the spam event comes from a specific sender, you may also consider blocking the user or reporting the email as junk to prevent future invitations.
Currently, there is no way to switch back to the old Outlook on the web, so these actions should be done in the desktop app.
If you cannot find the option to switch back and your account is part of an organization, please contact your IT administrator for assistance.
I hope this information helps! If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
