Using Outlook for Android for personal email and calendar management
Most likely causes are an archive action or a mailbox rule/filter created during the spam incident.
Try these checks in order:
- Check whether the messages were archived by mistake
- Open the Archive folder.
- Move a message back to Inbox.
- If this is Outlook for Mac, messages can be moved to Archive with the Archive button on the ribbon. If archived by mistake, move them back to Inbox.
- Check Outlook.com rules and forwarding
- Sign in to Outlook on the web.
- Open Settings > Mail > Rules.
- Delete any rule that moves incoming mail to Archive or any rule that is not recognized.
- Also check Forwarding and remove anything unexpected.
- A hidden rule or filter is a common cause after a spam or account compromise event.
- Review account security activity
- If there was a spam problem, check recent sign-in activity for the Microsoft account and confirm there are no unrecognized sign-ins.
- If using Outlook for Android or another mobile mail app
- Check whether the app is moving messages to Archive.
- On some mobile mail setups, device-side settings can move mail unexpectedly.
- If the issue started right after the password change
- Make sure Outlook is signed in with the updated password so account sync is normal.
- In new Outlook, select the email account name, choose Continue, and complete the sign-in prompts with the new password.
If the messages are only in Archive and not missing elsewhere, that points more to an archive action or rule than a delivery failure.
