Copying edited material with track changes into a new document.

My wife is editing a book. Due to power outages and things that go bump in the night she had several versions. She wants to consolidate these into one version to send to the author. She has track changes turned on so that the author can see her recommended edits. When she selects a group of paragraphs to copy into another document when she pastes those they show up as if everything in the paragraphs has been edited. All paragraphs show up in orange, for example. Is there way to select, copy and paste those paragraphs while still showing the changes made? We're using Word for Mac version 15.27. Thanks for any assistance

Confusing as it may seem, you should turn off the tracking in both the source and target documents before pasting the content. Have you tried that?

When copying Tracked Changes, the rules discussed in the article at http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/sharing/howtrackchangesworks.html#HowToCopyTextContainingTrackedChanges apply.

I'm assuming here, perhaps incorrectly, that the behavior is the same in Word for Mac as in Word for Windows.

    Try this:

    • Turn off track changes in the source document
    • Copy the text from the source document and paste in the target document
    • If you don't like how that looks, toggle track changes in the target document (it it's on, turn it off and vice versa) and paste again

That doesn't work they way I need it to. The changes are there and they are not in orange, but they aren't highlighted or identified and I need that to show so that the author sees the changes made to the original document.

I tried that, but it didn't work. I was able to copy the material with it all showing up in orange, but it didn't highlight the changes made.
