But what do you mean you can use win 10 for as long as it runs?

Windows 10 was never going to be the last version of Windows. That was said by Jerry Nixon at an Ignite conference, and it was hyperbole.

Still, there's an element of truth to that statement. Commencing with Windows 10, a new version of Windows is released every year, and the number after the word 'Windows' is strictly for marketing. The current version of Windows is Windows 11 24H2. The next version of Windows will be Windows 11 25H2 ... or maybe it will be Windows 12 25H2, because Microsoft knows it can generate some buzz in the marketplace (and some FOMO) by changing the number after the word 'Windows'. That's just marketing.

This is a garbage response because it ignores the fact that windows 11 is the first that FORCES you to buy new hardware. No one cares about your 10 year being normal excuse. This is planned obsolescence to force people to buy new computers and i hope we all get a real good class action lawsuit going the second you end support for 10 and like 70% of people still don't have a new enough pc to run 11. This was so cocky of Microsoft to find they could do that and now things like Linux and steamOS are gaining ground. Just so dumb of you.

Well instead of buying another computer you can simply upgrade it to 11 for free.

The Problem for Microsoft is that they are in a world of hurt with the end user. As an example, a couple years ago, maybe almost two, I paid maybe $400 for same day service with a server. They called me six months later for that support ticket. No one contacted me otherwise and I had to dispute the charge with my bank. This is what they call service. Now they are ending Windows 10. If some disgruntled employee comes forth with an email that says they did this change from W10 to W11 in a way to force people to buy other products, computers, software, force them to the cloud, Office 365 instead of locally on the computer, my OPINION is that the DOJ will trounce on them for anti-trust violations. All it will take is one employee saying the managers were laughing because they said the public will be extorted into buying new computers.

Our business outlook is that if the public rewards them for this behavior, then what is to keep them from forcing you to buy a new computer every three years, then two, then annually. The only way to stop this is to move to another OS. Linux Mint is one that we are testing right now to see if we can make it work for our needs.
