Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are receiving RPCRT4.dll error on start up and I will be happy to answer your query.

The Rpcrt4.dll file is a file associated with the Remote Procedure Call program, and is used by a number of Windows applications for network and Internet connections, which allow computers and devices to communicate between one another in order to keep your computer in perfect working order. Because this file is a dynamic link library file, this means that it has a specific function that it must carry out in order to keep your system working.

Some of the main causes of this particular error are going to resolve around the file itself and with the Windows registry. Some of the causes are going to be:

  • Windows registry keys are damaged and corrupt
  • The RPCRT4.dll file is missing
  • Connection has timed out

You may try the following methods and check the result.

Method 1: Check your internet connection

The first thing you should do is reset your modem or router, as this will refresh your Internet connection. You may seek your ISP's help doing so as well. To reset the modem or router follow the instructions:

  • Disconnect the cable that connects the computer to the modem
  • Turn off the modem and the router
  • Note: If the model or the router does not have a power switch, disconnect the power to the modem or to the router
  • Restart the computer
  • After your computer has restarted, turn on the modem or the router, connect the cable from the computer to the modem or the router and restart the computer
  • Make sure that all network cables are securely connected

Method 2: Run System File Checker tool

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

To do this, click Start, type Command Prompt or cmd in the Search box, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.

Type the following command and press Enter

sfc /scannow

Note: Do not close this Command Prompt window until the verification is 100% complete. The scan results will be shown after this process is finished.

AS of now, please try the above methods and let us know the status.

Hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to reply in case you face any other issues with Windows in future.

My system was working fine until I upgraded to Win10.  Under Win10, it hung up regularly, and needed to be power cycled.

    So I downgraded back to Win7 64bit.

The most common errors are these two:

    1. the procedure entry point rpcimpersonateclientcontainer could not be located in the dynamic link library rpcrt4.dll
    2. the ordinal 1000 could not be located in the dynamic link library rpcrt4.dll

These often occur from the following .exe

    BoxSync.exe

    PhotoSync.exe

    Update.exe

    SelfService.exe (Citrix Receiver)

    SelfServicePlugin.exe (Also Citrix)

    Two new errors today:

    GoogleUpdate.exe

The program can't start because api-ms-win-core-memory-l1-1-2.dll is missing from your computer.  Try reinstalling this program to fix this problem.

    procexp64.exe

The procedure entry point InitializeSRWLock could not be located in the dynamic link library api-ms-win-core-synch-l1-2-0.dll

I've never had Renewed Vision ProPresenter installed.

    I'm running .net framework 4.6.1

Are you getting the same ordinal 1000 error message about cloudsyncapp.exe?

Has the system ever worked properly before or is this a new problem?

If the system used to work properly what do you think happened or changed since the last time it did work properly?

Do you now or have you ever had any software from Renewed Vision ProPresenter installed?

Click the Start button/orb and in the box enter:

    appwiz.cpl

Press Enter to open Programs and Features

What version of Microsoft Microsoft .NET Framework is installed?

Yes, I restarted my router etc.

I'm running Win7, so Win+X doesn't work, but I ran cmd as administrator and then sfc /scannow.

    Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
