I have had this issue a few times lately.

All my pinned chats on Copilot have gone missing. I have tried to log out and log in but the issue persists.

Need to know if there's a way to retrieve and avoid this issue.

Open Copilot’s full conversation history first, because missing pinned entries may still exist as ordinary, unpinned conversations and can be opened and pinned again.

    Retrieve the chats

    1. Open the complete history
      • On copilot.com, select the sidebar icon in the upper-left.
      • In the Windows or macOS Copilot app, open the left sidebar.
      • On mobile, open the menu.
      • Look under All conversations, not only the pinned section. Signed-in personal Copilot accounts retain the last 18 months of conversation history.^1^
    2. If the chats appear there, open each one and use its menu to pin it again. This means the pin state was lost, rather than the conversation itself.
    3. Check another Copilot client
      • If the chats are absent from the app, check the web version, or vice versa.
      • Use the account switcher to verify that the same account is selected. Personal and work/school accounts have separate content.
      • If the original sign-in used Google or Apple, select Continue with Google or Continue with Apple rather than entering the same email through another sign-in method.^2^

Since signing out and back in did not help, there is no need to repeat it.

If the history is missing everywhere

For a personal account using the updated Copilot app, Microsoft states that chats should move automatically, but the migration and synchronization can take time. Refresh the web page or completely quit and reopen the app, follow any migration message or link shown inside Copilot, and check again later. A “coming soon” message specifically means the account has moved while its content is still being transferred.^2^

If the chats still do not appear:

    1. Select … in the upper-right of Copilot.
    2. Select Send feedback → Report a problem.
    3. Include:
      • When the pinned chats disappeared.
      • Whether the conversations are absent from All conversations or only from Pinned.
      • Affected clients and operating systems.
      • Whether the same result occurs on web, desktop, and mobile.
      • Screenshots with personal or confidential information removed.

There is no documented user-side restore operation for conversations that remain absent across clients. Also, avoid deleting activity history while this is being investigated; deleting a conversation or the entire Copilot activity history removes it from the user-facing history.^1^

For a work or school account, ask the Microsoft 365 administrator to:

    1. Check Microsoft 365 admin center → Health → Service health for a Copilot advisory.
    2. Open Help & Support and create a service request if no advisory explains the issue.^3^

Organizational retention or eDiscovery does not provide an end-user restore button. Retained Copilot interactions may be searchable by authorized compliance administrators, but what is visible in Copilot is not an accurate indicator of compliance retention.^4^

Reduce the risk of losing important content

    • Save critical responses in a document or notes application rather than relying on pinning as the only bookmark.
    • Do not use temporary chat for anything that must be retained; temporary conversations do not appear in chat history and cannot later be accessed by the user or Copilot.^5^
    • Periodically verify that important chats appear under All conversations, not merely under Pinned.
