Hello Chienhua. It looks like other users also experience this, if your screen displays only black and white while using Word on your new computer and you are unable to select color for text, backgrounds, or borders within Word. The likely culprit of this behavior is display or accessibility settings rather than an issue with Word itself. When the screen displays only black and white instead of color, it is likely a result of color filters in Windows, such as grayscale mode, or high contrast themes that override the ability of the application to display colors. Similarly Word itself may have conflicting theme settings that are producing a "Black" or dark mode, both of which create a grey or black interface and document viewing area. To trouble shoot, start in Windows by holding down the Windows key and pressing U. In the accessibility option that opens, go to "Color filters." Make sure the toggle is switched off. After this, in Word, go to File > Options > General. Under "Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office," pick a theme other than (Colorful or white). Be sure to check the box "Never change the document page color" is checked. Close Word and restart it. If you still see only black and white in Word, make sure any contrast themes are not selected. You can check this in Settings > Accessibility > Contrast Themes > "None."
