If you are able to log in to the new domain and you have discarded the old alias, you will be unable to retrieve the old alias and assign it. Not unless you just added the new domain as a secondary alias.

Yes, that is correct. Not unless the system will allow you to get past the recovery form and retrieve the account.

Hi, I'm Richard, Independent Advisor to work with you on this issue. Usually, if you get the message account does not exist and still unable to create an account using that email, it could mean that either the account was disabled or it couldve been renamed to a different alias. Not unless you have access to the current email, the only option you have is to create a new account with a different email. Due to security reasons, Microsoft will be unable to provide the existing email tied to that old account.
