Hi
I have a htpc and stream from ex netflix HBO viaplay etc. I use the digital out on mainboard realtek alc887 to a DD, DTS reciever and it have worked flawless. Even DD+ movies gets tranformed to a 5.1 signal and trensfered with coax cable.
Now with 1909 update, there is only 2channel out from edge, firefox etc. Something has changed.
A good choise to test is with Dolbydigital site, where you can either play "the Leaf" in the browser or download the same mp4 file.
I have reinstalled realtek and I have 5.1 output from the mediaplayer in windows, VLC and any other player. But in a browser I only get 2channel audio.

Do you still have a System Restore Point to go back before Edge was updated? This is one way to get the old Edge back then you can block the Update to Chromium, or do the simple easy steps here to have both side-by-side here: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/144061-enab...
(Anytime there's a Shawn Brink tutorial it's safe and he'll walk you through if needed)
I'm glad you got it fixed, Fredrik. It's beyond what we normally handle in a WIndows consumer forums, but should be helpful to those searching for this problem in the future who find this thread.
I tested on my other computer with realtec and it has still the old edge browser. It works great, surround is performing in the old edge but not in the new.
Listening with a couple of headphones on the analog surroundjacket on the back. Alla other browsers and the new Edge Chromium is silent.
Hi Greg
Tnx for really fast reply.
5.1 output through either analog 8channel or digital out to amplifier works great with Windows Mediaplayer, VLC player, Netflix app.
But when trying to playback audio with a browser everyting get int 2 channel.
ex https://www.dolby.com/us/en/guide/dolby-atmos-trailers.html
These files only gets 2 channel in browser (both analog out and digital) but if you download them to the media player it worksa flawless with 5.1 to amp both analog or digital out.
So I can playback 5.1 or 7.1 through computer to amplifier, just not through a browser.
I have noticed that it is like browsers doesnt take exclusive control over the audio device. If I in settings for soundcard/advanced unbox the "take control over device" Then Mediaplayer, VLC Neflix etc also only output 2 channel. Just as the browsers.
Microsoft Edge got support for DDplus 2015. But I just wanna make sure.:
So please confirm that you have 5.1 or more output when playing the Dolby digital movies from a browser. It would be great.
If it works for someone I need to reinstall win10 i guess beacuse there is something wrong in the registry.
Best Regards
Fredrik
