Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
For a Microsoft 365 home subscription, the subscription country/region cannot be changed directly on the existing subscription.
Use this process instead:
- Change the country or region on the Microsoft account profile:
- Go to the Your info page of the Microsoft account dashboard.
- Select Edit profile info.
- Select the new Country or region.
- If the Microsoft 365 subscription was purchased in a different region, the existing subscription must be removed before buying in the new region:
- Wait for the current subscription to expire, or
- Cancel the existing subscription.
- After the old subscription is gone, purchase a new Microsoft 365 subscription for the new country/region.
Important details:
- A subscription bought for one region cannot be activated in a different region while the old regional subscription still exists.
- A new subscription for the new region cannot be purchased until the existing one is gone.
- Microsoft recommends changing region only for a long-term move, because items obtained in one region might not work in another.
- Funds in the Microsoft account do not move between regions.
- If renewing in a different country than the original purchase country, Microsoft directs customers to contact support.
If the region change itself is blocked, common reasons include:
- The country or region was changed within the last three months.
- The account is suspended, such as for an expired card or balance due.
- Minor-status rules differ between the current and new country/region.
