How do I get access to Power Automate? I have the Microsoft Office 365 but Power Automate does not appear to be included. I searched and tried to Add app but it does not display for me.

Dear @Montallana Jeanette

For a Microsoft 365 business account, I recommend opening Power Automate directly and signing in with your work email. You don’t need to find it under Add apps in Office to create cloud flows.

If the portal says you don’t have access, ask your Microsoft 365 administrator to go to Users > Active users > your account > Licenses and apps and check whether Power Automate for Office 365 is included in your assigned plan and enabled. Many Microsoft 365 business plans cover flows that use standard connectors, such as SharePoint and Office 365 Outlook. A flow that uses a premium connector needs additional licensing. Please refer to this document: Power Automate licensing FAQ

If you still can’t get in, please share your Microsoft 365 plan name and the exact message you see when opening the portal.

Power Automate cloud access now requires a Microsoft work or school account, so the correct next step is to open the Power Automate portal directly and sign in with that account rather than trying to add it from the Microsoft 365 app list.

If this is a work or school Microsoft 365 account

    1. Open Power Automate.
    2. Select Sign in, not Try free.
    3. Enter the same work or school account used for Microsoft 365.
    4. Accept the subscription agreement if prompted.

Direct portal access is supported even when the Power Automate tile is not visible in the Microsoft 365 app launcher.^1^

If access is denied, ask your Microsoft 365 administrator to:

    1. Open the Microsoft 365 admin center.
    2. Go to Users → Active users.
    3. Select your account.
    4. Open Licenses and apps.
    5. Confirm that an eligible Microsoft 365 license is assigned and that the relevant Power Automate service has not been disabled.

Eligible Office 365 plans include E1, E3, E5, F1, F3, Business Basic, Business Standard, Business Premium, and specified education plans. These provide limited Power Automate rights for Microsoft 365 productivity scenarios and standard connectors.^2^

A separate Power Automate Premium license is required for capabilities such as premium connectors, custom connectors, and broader cloud or desktop automation features.^3^

If the license is assigned correctly but the portal still rejects the account, provide the exact error to your administrator. Tenant policies can disable self-service signup or otherwise restrict organizational access.

If this is Microsoft 365 Personal or Family

A Personal or Family subscription does not provide access to the Power Automate cloud portal. Since July 27, 2025, personal accounts such as Outlook.com and Gmail accounts are no longer supported for signing in to the portal or managing cloud flows.^4^

    Available options are:

    • Use a Microsoft work or school account with an eligible organizational license.
    • Purchase an appropriate standalone Power Automate license through an organization.
    • For development and testing, use the documented Power Apps Developer Plan route, which requires creating a Microsoft Entra tenant and developer environment.^5^
    • If only local Windows automation is needed, use Power Automate for desktop. Personal Microsoft accounts remain supported for desktop flows, although cloud connectivity, centralized management, sharing, and premium organizational features require an appropriate organizational account and licensing.^6^

The missing Add app result therefore does not identify the problem by itself—the determining details are whether the subscription is Personal/Family or business/education, and which exact license is assigned.
