Microsoft verification isn't recognising my new phone number

I'm trying to log in to the photos app to save my photos to my PC from my android phone but keep getting asked to verify my details, which I have, yet the code I'm being sent must be going to an old phone number I had years ago which is preventing me from verification.
Please help.
