Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Hi Rajendran,
Thank you for sharing about your situation.
When a new Microsoft 365 tenant is created, Microsoft automatically provides an initial domain in the following format: tenantname.onmicrosoft.com
If you would like to use @smartelvtech.com, first make sure that you own this domain and have access to its DNS settings through your domain registrar or hosting provider.
If you do not own smartelvtech.com, you will first need to purchase or obtain administrative access to the domain through a domain registrar before it can be added to Microsoft 365.
Once confirmed, you can add it to Microsoft 365 as a custom domain by following these steps:
- Sign in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center with your admin account.
- Go to Settings > Domains > Add domain.
-
- Enter smartelvtech.com and follow the prompts to verify domain ownership.
- Add or update the required DNS records through your domain provider.
- Once the domain has been successfully verified, go to Users > Active users.
- Select your account and update the username and primary email address from @smartelvtech.onmicrosoft.com to @smartelvtech.com.
After the change, sign out and sign back in using the updated address.
Kindly note that the original onmicrosoft.com domain will normally remain associated with the tenant, even after your custom domain has been added.
You can also refer to the following Microsoft guidance:
- Add a custom domain to Microsoft 365
- Change your Microsoft 365 email address to use your custom domain
