Subscription feature not recognizing my purchase

I'm in the subscription interface for Microsoft 365 and where it says to redeem a product key, I'm following the prompts to input my alphanumeric product key. Once I complete the 'prove you are human' quiz it stops advancing ... nothing happens and I'm not taken to the next screen or any prompt that acknowledges my $99 purchase (from September!!). Because of this, my profile lists me as a "free" user and none of the features in any of the apps are working for me ... Word won't let me save or edit and neither will any of the others.

What can I do to input my product key to prove I've paid to be a premium subscriber?

    Hello,

    1. Did you purchase an Office 365 Personal subscription from a third-party retailer?
    2. Do you see the same error when trying to redeem your product key on a different device or in a web browser?
    • Open an InPrivate window in Microsoft Edge.
    • Go to https://setup.office.com/redeem/enter-key.
    • Click 'Get Started'.
    • Enter the product key for your Office 365 subscription.
    • Enter the Microsoft account email address you want to associate with the product key.
    • Follow the prompts to redeem your Office subscription.

After redeeming the key, check your subscription status here:

    https://account.microsoft.com/services

If you’re still having trouble, try redeeming the key on a different device or in a web browser to see whether it works.

Redeem the key from the dedicated Microsoft setup site in an InPrivate or Incognito window, rather than from the subscription interface where the human-verification step stalls.

    1. Retry redemption in a clean browser session

    1. Close the current redemption page.
    2. Open an InPrivate/Incognito window, preferably in a different browser.
    3. Go directly to https://setup.office.com/redeem/enter-key.
    4. Select Get started and sign in with the personal Microsoft account that should own the subscription.
    5. Enter the product key without hyphens and complete the prompts.

A private session avoids existing cookies or browser data that can interfere with redemption. Microsoft also identifies blocked cookies and JavaScript as possible setup problems, so temporarily allow both for the Microsoft setup site and pause any script-blocking extension before completing the human-verification step.^1^ The private-browser approach is also the accepted resolution for similar redemption failures.^2^

Microsoft documents redemption as a one-time process that associates the purchase with the Microsoft account; afterward, that account—not the key—is used to install or activate Office.^3^

    2. Check whether the purchase is already associated

Sign in at https://account.microsoft.com/services using the same account.

    • If Microsoft 365 Personal or Microsoft 365 Family appears as active, the key has already been associated. Do not redeem it again.
    • If nothing appears, check other personal email addresses that might have been used when purchasing or redeeming it.
    • If the portal reports “This product key has already been used,” sign in with the account that originally redeemed it; Microsoft confirms that a redeemed key cannot be reused.^4^

    3. Reactivate the Windows apps after the subscription appears

    Once the subscription is listed:

    1. Close all Office applications.
    2. Open Word.
    3. Go to File → Account.
    4. Sign out of any account shown there.
    5. Sign back in using the Microsoft account displaying the active subscription.
    6. Restart Word and check that Product Activated appears under File → Account.

Office disables editing when it remains unlicensed. If signing in does not update its status, run the Microsoft 365 activation troubleshooter on the same Windows PC; it requires Windows 10 or later.^5^

    4. If redemption still freezes or the subscription remains absent

Contact Microsoft Support at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contactus/ and choose:

    1. Microsoft 365
    2. Get Home Support
    3. Enter License issue
    4. Sign in to contact support

    Have these ready:

    • The 25-character key
    • September receipt or order confirmation
    • Retailer name and purchase date
    • Screenshot of where redemption stops
    • Any error code or correlation ID displayed

Support can investigate activation and account/billing problems and may offer chat.^6^ If the retailer failed to activate the key at checkout, Microsoft’s documented resolution is to have that retailer activate it. If the key is blocked or invalid, request a replacement or refund from the seller.^1^

Do not post the product key publicly or include it in screenshots shared here.
