Zoom is default in meeting invitations. Can I add Teams as an alternative when creating a meeting?

That's a lot of steps. Previously on old (GOOD) outlook ribbon I could click on Teams or Zoom as I was creating a meeting. I did not have to go into settings to change which one I want to use. MSFT really is not in touch with actual users of Outlook or many of their products. Old Outlook was fine; no need to ruin it by redeveloping it.

    Hi Wade,

Thank you for your response and for clarifying the issue.

To switch from Zoom to Microsoft Teams when creating a meeting, you can select the Microsoft Teams option here:

If you encounter any difficulties at any step, or if the settings shown in the screenshot I provided are not available in your Outlook interface, please let me know. I will continue to assist you.

No, you completely misunderstood and assumed wrong. In New (VERY BAD) Outlook my default is Zoom, so when I create a mtg invite, Zoom is the only thing that I can use in the mtg. I would also like to be able to create a mtg invite that uses Teams as an alternative (not zoom and teams in same mtg). Nothing in Calendar lets me have an option of easily using Zoom or Teams when creating an invitation.

    Hi Wade,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, I understand that you would like to have a single meeting invitation containing both Zoom and Microsoft Teams links, with Zoom as the default platform and Teams as a backup option.

You can add both links to the same meeting invitation. However, Outlook typically recognizes only one platform as the primary online meeting. Currently, there is no official option to automatically create both Zoom and Teams meetings as equal alternatives within the same invitation.

    You can follow these steps:

    1. Create a new meeting in Outlook.
    2. Use Zoom for Outlook to add the Zoom meeting details to the invitation.
    3. Then, click New event and create a separate Teams meeting for the same date and time as the Zoom meeting.
    4. Copy the Join the meeting now link from the Teams meeting.
    5. Go back to the Zoom meeting invitation and paste the Teams link into the body of the invitation, clearly indicating that it is provided as a backup option.

I hope this information is helpful.

If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to share them in the comments on this post so I can continue to support you.

I look forward to continuing the conversation.
