Azure Communication Services SMS: does a UK-registered sender deliver to Channel Islands (Jersey/Guernsey) mobile numbers?
We plan to use Azure Communication Services for one-way outbound SMS (login links) to mobile numbers that are mostly UK but include a substantial number in the Channel Islands.
The Channel Islands are not served by UK mobile carriers. The networks there are JT (Jersey Telecom), Sure, and Airtel-Vodafone (recently merged with Sure), each with their own network codes. Jersey mobile ranges are mainly 07797 7xxxxx and 07700 7xxxxx, among others.
Microsoft's ACS SMS documentation and pricing tables only list "United Kingdom" as a destination - Jersey, Guernsey and "Channel Islands" do not appear anywhere. Since these numbers are on +44 but are separate jurisdictions on non-UK networks, we need to confirm:
- Will a sender registered/provisioned for the United Kingdom (a pre-registered alphanumeric sender ID, or a UK long number) actually deliver to these Jersey/Guernsey networks, or are the Channel Islands treated as a separate / unsupported destination?
- If they are not supported through native ACS, are they reachable via Messaging Connect?
- Does the UK unregistered-sender block, and the alphanumeric sender ID registration requirement, also apply to Channel Islands numbers?
Any confirmation of delivery coverage for JT / Sure / Airtel-Vodafone would be very helpful. Thanks.
