If the card number changed, add the new card as a new payment method. The card number and card type cannot be edited.

For a Microsoft account subscription:

1. Go to https://account.microsoft.com/billing/payments.
2. Find Payment methods.
3. Add the new card, or select View or edit card if only details like billing address or expiration date need updating.
4. If this is for a subscription, then go to https://account.microsoft.com/services.
5. Find the subscription, select Manage, then Change how you pay.
6. Select the new card as the payment method.

Important details when adding the card:

• Enter the name exactly as it appears on the card.
• If the address is too long for Address 1, use Address 2 and do not abbreviate it.
• If the old card was replaced with a completely new number, remove the old card after the new one is added and set as default.

If the update does not work, common causes include issuer fraud blocks, 3-D Secure or online payment restrictions, and name mismatches on the card.
