Contact Microsoft Support through the Get Help → Contact Support route and ask a billing representative to review both transactions before cancelling either product.
Speak to a representative
- Open Contact Microsoft Support and sign in.
- Enter “Refund Microsoft 365 duplicate charge”, then select Get Help.
- If the automated options do not resolve it, select Contact Support.
- Choose Microsoft 365 and Office, followed by Billing/Subscriptions or Billing and Payment Updates.
- Select Chat with a support agent or Request a call, depending on the options available in your region. Microsoft documents this escalation path for billing charges.^1^
- Give the representative:
- Exact names of both products
- Charge dates and amounts
- Order or transaction numbers
- The charge you want refunded
Before contacting support, check Order history and Services & subscriptions under every Microsoft account you use. This identifies whether “Standard” is Microsoft 365 Business Standard and whether “Professional” is another subscription or a one-time Office purchase. Do not cancel anything until you identify which entitlement you need to retain.
If “Standard” is Microsoft 365 Business Standard
This is a business subscription. A Microsoft 365 tenant administrator should:
- Sign in at
https://admin.microsoft.com.
- Select Help & support.
- Enter Double billed, need refund.
- Select Contact Support and choose the offered email or telephone option.^2^
If it is a personal Microsoft 365 subscription bought from Microsoft
You can check automated refund eligibility by signing in with the account that purchased it, opening Services & subscriptions, selecting the unwanted subscription, and choosing Manage → Cancel. The cancellation page indicates whether it qualifies for a refund; cancellation does not always produce one.[^3^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Microsoft subscription refund policy | Microsoft Support")
If the page displays Turn on recurring billing, the subscription is already scheduled to expire and will not renew. Contact billing support about the existing charge rather than cancelling another product.[^4^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Microsoft 365")
If another seller billed you
If the subscription was purchased through Apple, Google Play, Amazon, or another retailer, request the refund from that seller; Microsoft cannot manage third-party subscription billing.[^5^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Unable to cancel your Microsoft subscription | Microsoft Support")
