My daughter accidentally registered a newly purchased retail copy of Office under her own Microsoft account instead of my wife's account. Please cancel the entitlement on my daughter's account and issue or assign it to my wife's account which is @gmail.com. My daughter's email address

The quickest solution is probably to cancel the current subscription and then order a new one using the correct account.

    Hi, @Catherine Peters

Once an Office product key has been redeemed, it is normally permanently linked to the Microsoft account used during redemption. It cannot normally be transferred to another account.

Since this was an accidental redemption, please contact Microsoft Support directly and ask them to review whether the license can be reassigned to your wife's account.

Microsoft Support must handle the incorrect account association; a redeemed retail Office key cannot simply be entered again under your wife’s account.

    Request the correction

    1. Open Microsoft customer support and choose Get help under Microsoft technical support. Describe the issue as:
“New retail Office purchase accidentally redeemed to the wrong Microsoft account; request correction of the account association.”
The support workflow may offer chat or another appropriate contact option.^1^
    2. Have these available:
      • The original receipt or other proof of purchase.
      • The retail packaging and product-key card.
      • Your daughter’s access to the Microsoft account currently holding the license.
      • Your wife’s Microsoft account address.
Microsoft specifically directs customers to contact Support and provide proof of purchase when someone else’s account was associated with their Office purchase.[^2^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Why do I need an account to sign in to Microsoft 365 or Office? | Microsoft Support")
    3. Do not publish either email address or the product key in this public forum. Provide those details only through Microsoft’s private support process.

The product key itself can be redeemed only once. After redemption, installation and activation normally use the associated Microsoft account rather than re-entering the key.^3^

If you are in the European Economic Area

Microsoft expressly supports transferring an eligible one-time Office license to another person in the EEA through customer support. Your daughter must verify her identity and license rights, and provide the recipient’s Microsoft-account email address. Microsoft then cancels the existing entitlement and sends the new licensee instructions for associating it with their account.^4^

Outside the EEA, the documentation does not promise a person-to-person transfer. Support must determine whether it can correct this newly purchased, accidental association. If it cannot, ask the retailer whether a refund or replacement is available; otherwise, Office remains associated with your daughter’s account.
