A Microsoft offering that enables tracking of cloud usage and expenditures for Azure and other cloud providers.
The expired grant’s remaining balance is no longer available because unused nonprofit credits do not roll over; activate the approved renewal in the Nonprofit Hub, then check the new credit under Billing > Payment Methods > Azure Credits. ^1^
Activate the renewed grant
Approval of the renewal does not necessarily mean that the renewed credit has completed activation.
- Sign in to the Nonprofit Hub using the validated Microsoft account associated with the grant.
- Select Nonprofit grants.
- Locate the $2,000 Azure Grant:
- If Renew Now appears, select it and complete the eligibility and renewal terms.
- If Activate appears, select it, accept the Azure Sponsorship terms, and associate the credit with the appropriate existing billing profile.
- Confirm that a renewal or activation confirmation email is received. Only the primary contact listed on the offer can activate the grant. ^2^
Renewal can be completed after expiration, but Azure usage incurred between expiration and completed renewal is charged at pay-as-you-go rates. The renewed credit is not applied retroactively. ^1^
Check the new balance
After activation:
- Sign in to the Azure portal with the administrator account associated with the grant.
- Open Cost Management + Billing.
- Go to Billing > Payment Methods.
- Select Azure Credits.
That tab should show the current balance and usage for the active grant. ^2^
Having only one billing scope explains why Switch scope is unavailable; Azure shows that option only when the account can access multiple scopes. You can inspect Cost Management + Billing > Properties to identify the billing-account type. ^3^
If Azure Credits still does not appear
- If Properties identifies a legacy Microsoft Online Services Agreement sponsorship: check the balance in the Azure Sponsorships portal using the account-owner credentials used during grant setup. That portal displays the balance, usage, and expiration details for legacy sponsorships. ^1^
- If the Nonprofit Hub says the renewed benefit is active but neither balance location shows it: submit a request through the Nonprofit Hub Contact Us form. Include the renewal confirmation, grant primary-contact account, subscription ID, billing-account type, and a screenshot of the missing Azure Credits tab. Microsoft support intervention is required if the credit was attached to the wrong account or billing profile. ^2^
The old grant’s remaining credit cannot be restored or carried into the renewed grant. The relevant balance to look for now is a new annual allocation created by the completed renewal activation.
