First verify the $24.99 charge directly with your bank and Microsoft account rather than using any link or telephone number in the notice.

    1. Confirm whether money was actually taken

    • Check your bank or credit-card statement for a posted $24.99 transaction.
    • If the charge appears only in an email or text—not on your financial statement—the notice may be a fake-order scam. Do not reply, open attachments, call a number in it, or click its links. Microsoft recommends checking the sender carefully and independently visiting the company’s official site.^1^

    2. Identify a real Microsoft charge

    1. Enter account.microsoft.com manually in your browser and sign in.
    2. Open Payment & billing → Order history.
    3. Set the date range to include the transaction date.
    4. Look for a Completed or Redeemed order for $24.99, then open Order details. If you have used multiple Microsoft email addresses, check each account.^2^
    5. In the account dashboard, open Manage your payments, locate the charge, and select Investigate. Microsoft notes that unexpected charges can result from recurring billing, a family member’s purchase, a retried payment, or an in-app purchase.^3^

    3. If you find an unwanted subscription

Open Services & subscriptions, select the subscription, and choose Manage → Cancel. The cancellation process will automatically indicate whether the charge qualifies for a refund; not every cancellation produces one.[^4^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Microsoft subscription refund policy | Microsoft Support")

    4. If no account shows the charge

Contact Microsoft Support through the Contact Support option on the billing-investigation page. Provide the transaction date, exact amount, statement description, and transaction ID—but never post card or account details publicly.^3^

If Microsoft cannot locate it, or the transaction was made without permission, contact the card issuer immediately. Report the unauthorized payment and ask it to prevent additional charges; Microsoft specifically advises reporting potentially compromised payment information rather than only disputing one transaction.^3^

Did you receive an Email indicating your were charged for a subscription, and did you check your bank account manually to see if there was a subscription taken by Microsoft from your account and if so, what is indicated for that payment.
