The resolution depends on whether the error appears while accepting your husband’s Microsoft 365 Family invitation or after acceptance when installing the apps.

If the error appears when accepting the invitation

  1. Ask your husband—the subscription owner—to open the Microsoft 365 sharing page using the account that owns Microsoft 365 Family.
  2. Check your status:
    • If it says Pending invite, select Resend invite.
    • If your name is missing, select Share, then send a new email invitation or create a sharing link.
    • Confirm that fewer than five other people are already sharing the subscription.
  3. Open the new invitation while signed in with the Microsoft account to which it was sent.
  4. Select Accept, followed by Join now. Invitations must be accepted within 48 hours.[^1^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Share your Microsoft 365 subscription | Microsoft Support")
  5. If Microsoft reports that you already belong to another family group, leave that group first, then accept your husband’s invitation again. An account must join the subscription owner’s family group before it can receive the shared benefits.[^2^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Someone invited you to share their Microsoft 365 subscription")

Do not use your husband’s product key. Product keys cannot be used to share Microsoft 365 Family; sharing must be completed through an email invitation or sharing link.[^3^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Troubleshoot sharing a Microsoft 365 subscription")

If you accepted the invitation but cannot download Microsoft 365

  1. Sign in to your Microsoft account using the same account that accepted the invitation.
  2. Select Start using Microsoft 365 apps.
  3. Select Install and run the downloaded installer.[^2^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Someone invited you to share their Microsoft 365 subscription")
  4. If Microsoft 365 is already installed on the Windows PC, you normally do not need another copy. Open Word or Excel and go to File > Account, sign out of other accounts, and sign in with the Microsoft account that accepted the invitation.

If the TraceId error continues

Contact Microsoft Support and provide:

  • The complete error message
  • TraceId: B17yYM3YXEKieAq8.20.106
  • The approximate date and time the error occurred
  • Whether it happened at Accept, Join now, or Install
  • Whether your husband’s sharing page shows you as Pending or accepted

Use Contact Microsoft Support, enter the issue, select Get Help, and then Contact Support if it remains unresolved.[^2^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Someone invited you to share their Microsoft 365 subscription")
