Using New Outlook on Windows for professional communication and productivity
To keep the contact data, use one of these supported paths:
- If using Outlook for Windows with iCloud for Windows integration
- Install iCloud for Windows.
- Open the iCloud app and sign in with the Apple ID.
- Turn on Contacts and Calendars and select Apply.
- Open Outlook. The iCloud contacts and calendars should then synchronize with Outlook.
- If contacts need to be brought into new Outlook as imported data
- Export the iCloud contacts as a .vcf file.
- On Windows, convert the .vcf to .csv:
- Open File Explorer.
- Go to
C:\Users\<username>\Contacts. - Select Import.
- Choose vCard (VCF file) > Import.
- Select the exported iCloud .vcf file.
- For each contact, select OK.
- Select Close.
- Select Export.
- Choose CSV file > Export.
- Choose Browse and save the file.
- Then import the .csv into Outlook.
Important data note:
- The documented conversion path is .vcf to .csv. A .csv file may not preserve all contact details exactly the same way as the original iCloud contact format, so verify the exported file before importing.
- If there are more than about 50 contacts, the Windows import step is tedious because OK must be selected for each contact individually.
For new Outlook specifically, Microsoft also supports syncing some non-Microsoft accounts to the Microsoft Cloud. For new Outlook for Windows, the provided documentation shows this is available for Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud, IMAP and POP accounts in one article, while another article lists Gmail and Yahoo only. The directly documented iCloud contact sync method with Outlook on Windows is iCloud for Windows.
