Check your Microsoft order history first; if both Xbox subscription charges appear as completed purchases for the same amount and billing period, contact Xbox Support to request a refund for the duplicate.
Verify the duplicate charge
- Sign in at Microsoft account Order history using the account that owns the Xbox subscription.
- Set the date range to include both bank charges.
- Compare the order history with your bank statement:
- Two matching Microsoft orders: note both order numbers, dates, and amounts.
- Only one Microsoft order: open Payment options in your Microsoft account and select Investigate. The other payment may belong to another Microsoft account using the same card.
- Review the previous few months as well. A previously missed payment and the next regular payment can be collected close together, which can look like duplicate billing. ^1^
Request the refund
For an Xbox subscription purchased directly from Microsoft, open Xbox subscription cancellations and refunds, sign in with the purchasing account, and follow the refund or support prompts. Refund eligibility depends on the subscription, timing, and country or region. If no refund option appears:
- Go to Microsoft Contact Support.
- Enter Xbox duplicate subscription charge and select Get Help.
- Select Contact Support and use the available chat or callback option.
- Provide both charge dates and amounts, the matching order numbers, and the last four digits of the payment method. Do not post those details publicly.
If the subscription was purchased through Apple, Google Play, or another retailer, request the refund from that seller rather than Microsoft. [^2^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Microsoft subscription refund policy | Microsoft Support")
If you do not recognize one or both charges
Use Manage your payments → Investigate. If you believe the card information was stolen, contact your bank or payment provider promptly to block further charges and replace the compromised card; disputing only the existing payment does not prevent new fraudulent charges. ^3^
