When I close Edge. It remembers the page. But does not remember the sign-in. Each time I open a page I have to put in the Password.

Turn off cookie deletion when Edge closes, because websites normally retain sign-in through cookies rather than through the saved-password feature.

Keep the website signed in

  1. Enter this address in Edge: edge://settings/privacy/clearBrowsingData/clearOnClose
  2. Turn off Cookies and other site data.
  3. Restart Edge, sign in to the website, and select Remember me or Keep me signed in if offered.
  4. Close and reopen Edge, then test the site.

When cookie deletion on exit is enabled, Edge removes the website’s session and signs you out. ^1^

If only this website is affected:

  1. Open edge://settings/content/cookies.
  2. Turn on Allow sites to save and read cookie data.
  3. Check both Block and Clear on close.
  4. Remove the affected website and its sign-in domain from those lists.
  5. Restart Edge and test again. ^1^

If Edge also fails to save or fill the password

This is separate from remaining signed in. Open Settings and more (…) → Settings → Passwords and autofill → Microsoft Password Manager, then:

  • Turn on Offer to save passwords.
  • Turn on Autofill passwords.
  • Check whether the website appears under Saved passwords.
  • Check Never saved passwords and remove the site if listed.
  • Return to the site, sign in, and accept Edge’s prompt to save the password.

Microsoft documents those password-saving and autofill controls under the profile’s password settings. ^2^ In current Edge versions, stored passwords are available under Settings → Passwords and autofill. ^3^

Saving the password only fills the credentials next time; preserving the site’s cookies is what normally keeps the session signed in.

If it still signs out

Work through these checks in order, testing after each one:

  1. Tracking prevention: Open edge://settings/privacy/trackingPrevention, temporarily select Basic, and test. If that fixes it, return to Balanced and add the affected sign-in domain at edge://settings/privacy/trackingPreventionExceptions.
  2. Extensions: Open edge://extensions/, temporarily disable privacy or cookie-management extensions, and test. Re-enable them individually to identify the one clearing cookies.
  3. Date and time: In Windows 11, open Settings → Time & language → Date & time, enable automatic time and time-zone settings, and select Sync now.
  4. New Edge profile: Open edge://settings/profiles, select Add profile, and test there. If the session persists in the new profile, the original profile is likely damaged.
  5. Managed device: Open edge://policy and look for DefaultCookiesSetting, CookiesBlockedForUrls, or CookiesSessionOnlyForUrls. If present and they affect the site, contact the organization’s administrator; managed policies can override your settings. ^1^

If the problem occurs with only one site after these checks, the website may intentionally expire its session and require a new sign-in; Edge cannot override that website behavior.
