How do I stop a UTAS sign-in pop-up from coming up every time I open the web-browser?

I have asked AI to help me trouble-shoot this but it hasn't worked. I have checked in settings- Accounts- Access work or school but UTAS isn't there as an option to disconnect.

The web-browser I am using is micrsoft edge and the UTAS website is actually still an icon that is favourited. I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

It is very annoying as I have finished my study with UTAS!

Any tips would be appreciated.

    Hello,

    1. Go to the UTAS Website.
    2. Click the Lock icon on the address bar next to the UTAS address.
    3. Select Site settings.

    (example screenshot)

    image (1)

You will be redirected to the UTAS website's site permissions settings.

Locate the Notification and Pop-ups and redirects option and select Block (Default).

    Alternatively, check the following:

    1

Go to Edge browser Settings > Start, home, and new tab page.

On Startup - Select > Open new tab page.

    2

Paste this link in the address bar: edge://settings/content/all?parent=cookies

Locate UTAS in the list, and click the delete icon.

This removes all the cookies for the UTAS webpage.

    3

Go to the Edge permissions settings page -

    edge://settings/privacy/sitePermissions

    • Under Recent activity, click All sites > locate the UTAS webpage in the list and click Delete.

    4

If you are still having issues, clear your browsing history, cache, and cookies.

Remove UTAS from Edge’s startup pages first, because a favorite alone does not launch when Edge opens, while a configured startup page or restored tab does.

    1. Remove UTAS from Edge startup

    1. In Edge, enter edge://settings/startHomeNTP in the address bar.
    2. Under When Edge starts, select Open the new tab page.
    3. If Open these pages is selected, remove the UTAS address from the list.
    4. Close all Edge windows, reopen Edge, and check whether the UTAS sign-in appears.

If Open tabs from the previous session was selected, Edge can restore the UTAS tab—including its session state—each time it starts. Startup pages are stored per Edge profile and can also sync between devices when settings sync is enabled.^1^

The UTAS favorite can be removed separately by right-clicking it on the Favorites bar and selecting Delete, but that favorite is not normally an automatic startup trigger.

    2. Check whether UTAS was installed as an Edge app

A website can be installed as an app and configured to start automatically:

    1. Enter edge://apps in Edge.
    2. If UTAS appears, select Details.
    3. Turn off Auto-start on device login, or select Uninstall if it is no longer needed.
    4. Restart Windows and test Edge again.

Edge’s Apps page manages installed websites, their auto-start setting, and uninstallation.^2^

    3. Remove only UTAS site data

Since UTAS is not listed under Access work or school, do not reconnect it. Instead, clear the saved UTAS browser session:

    1. In Edge, open Settings and more (…) → Settings → Privacy, search, and services.
    2. Open Cookies → See all cookies and site data.
    3. Search for utas.
    4. Delete each UTAS entry.
    5. Also search for the domain displayed in the sign-in window and delete that entry if it clearly belongs to UTAS.
    6. Close every Edge window and reopen it.

Deleting data for only that site signs you out of UTAS without signing you out of unrelated websites.^3^

    4. Check the active Edge profile

Select the profile icon at the upper-right of Edge:

    • If there is a UTAS work or school profile, switch to the personal profile first.
    • Then select Profile settings → More profiles → the delete button beside the obsolete UTAS profile → Remove profile.

Edge profiles maintain separate favorites, settings, extensions, and sign-in information.^4^

Caution: Removing a profile deletes its locally stored favorites, history, and passwords if they are not synced. Export anything needed before removing it.^5^

If no UTAS profile exists, leave the personal profile intact. The startup-page and site-data checks above are the safer fixes.

    If the pop-up still appears

Open edge://policy and look for RestoreOnStartup or RestoreOnStartupURLs containing UTAS. These policies can force specified sites to open when Edge starts.^6^ If Edge says Managed by your organization or a UTAS startup URL is enforced, contact UTAS IT and ask them to remove the former-student browser/device assignment; a mandatory policy cannot normally be removed through Edge’s regular settings.
