I'm being charged monthly for a Microsoft service but do not know which Microsoft account it's coming from. I can see the charge on my credit card statement but cannot find a Microsoft account causing the charge. How do I find out which account it is?

    Hello,

Open an InPrivate window in Edge.

    • Go to the Services & Subscriptions page: https://account.microsoft.com/services
    • Sign in to each Microsoft account you own or remember, one at a time, using the link above.
    • If you find an active Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription on this page, it is linked to that account.
    • Select the subscription, choose Manage, and then select Cancel subscription.

Alternatively, look for an email from Microsoft confirming that your Microsoft 365 subscription was renewed.

If you can’t find the subscription in your Microsoft account, a family member may have used your card to purchase it through their account. Ask your family members whether they linked your card to one of their accounts.

If you’re still having trouble, contact Microsoft Support via live chat. A support agent may be able to help identify the account associated with the subscription.

    1. Go to this page: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/home/contact
    2. Type Talk to an agent then click Get Help.
    3. At the bottom of the page click Contact Support. Sign in to your Microsoft account if needed.
    4. Select Other Products then Billing and Account Profile questions then Confirm.
    5. Click Chat with a support agent in your web browser.

Open Manage your payments in your Microsoft account dashboard and select Investigate beside the payment method; this is Microsoft’s supported way to search for an unrecognized charge and determine whether the card is associated with another account or purchase.^1^

    Identify the account

    1. Sign in to Manage your payments.
    2. Find the credit card receiving the monthly charge and select Investigate.
    3. Enter or select the requested charge details and review any matching purchases or accounts.
    4. Repeat this while signed in to every Microsoft account you may have used. Also ask family members who have had permission to use the card. Purchases are normally visible only in the order history of the account that made them.^2^

    For each possible account:

    1. Open Payment & billing → Order history.
    2. Set the date range to include the charge.
    3. Match the amount and date against entries marked Completed or Redeemed.^3^
    4. Open Services & subscriptions. If Microsoft 365 appears, select Manage to see its billing and cancellation options. A subscription purchased directly from Microsoft is managed there.[^4^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Where can I manage my Microsoft 365 subscription? | Microsoft Support")

    Find forgotten account names

If an account may have been forgotten:

    • Use Microsoft’s username lookup with a previously registered recovery phone number or email address. It displays a masked username after verification.^5^
    • On Windows 10/11, check Start → Settings → Accounts → Email & app accounts.
    • In Word or Excel, check File → Account → Product Information → Belongs to.
    • Search all email inboxes for Microsoft receipts or subscription confirmations.^6^

Check who actually billed the card

Examine the full merchant description on the statement or receipt. If the subscription was bought through Apple, Google Play, Amazon, or another retailer, it must be identified and managed through that provider; Microsoft cannot cancel or modify a third-party-billed subscription.[^4^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Where can I manage my Microsoft 365 subscription? | Microsoft Support")

If no account shows the charge

    Contact Microsoft Support:

    1. Enter unrecognized recurring Microsoft 365 charge and select Get Help.
    2. If the automated results do not resolve it, select Contact Support.
    3. Have the charge date, exact amount, merchant description, receipt or transaction reference, and last four card digits available.

Provide payment details only through the private support session—never post them publicly. Billing support can investigate records that forum participants cannot access.^2^

If the charge may be unauthorized, contact the card issuer immediately to block further charges and discuss replacing the card. Merely disputing one charge may not prevent the card from being charged again.^1^
