A cloud-based task management app from Microsoft that helps users organize and manage daily tasks across devices.
Hello,
Thank you for providing the detailed testing results. Based on what you have described, this does not appear to be expected account behavior. Microsoft To Do officially supports sharing between personal Microsoft accounts.
Since newly created lists fail in the same way while existing shared lists remain accessible, and similar reports have appeared recently, this may be a service-side issue affecting new To Do sharing invitations. However, there is currently no publicly confirmed incident number or estimated resolution time that we can provide from the community forum.
For now, I recommend:
- Do not select Stop Sharing or remove members from any shared lists that are still working.
- Submit feedback from both affected accounts and include the exact error, approximate failure time and time zone, device or browser used, and the fact that existing shared lists still work.
- Continue using the printed checklist, or temporarily move the checklist to a shared OneNote page or Excel workbook in OneDrive.
You can also contact Microsoft Support for more insight and ask them to investigate a “server-side Microsoft To Do invitation failure between personal Microsoft accounts.” Here is how to contact support:
Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators and contributors, including external Microsoft employees, are not allowed to directly interfere with Microsoft product features or access back-end systems. Our role is limited solely to providing technical guidance on reported incidents, requests, or ideas.
- Visit this website: Contact - Microsoft Support
- Type Contact in the search box.
- Now click Get help, and Select Ask our support assistant or Sign in to contact support below.
- Chat with the support assistant like in the screenshot
- Select contact support and it should take you to the Products and services tab, and choose either Microsoft 365 and Office category.
- On the Category tab, choose Technical support.
- Go to Confirm.
- You can now choose the option of Chat with a support agent on your web browser.
I am sorry that there is no immediate fix available, especially when these lists are part of the user’s daily workflow.
I hope you can get the support you need, have a nice day.
