Why is that we have AI apps that can scour every corner of the internet is mere seconds but Windows Search Function cannot perform a search on my desktop??

I understand your frustration, especially since the suggested fixes only worked temporarily and introduced another issue.

Let's restore the PowerShell setting first

Right-click Start and open Terminal (PowerShell).

Run the command below.

Set-ExecutionPolicy -Scope CurrentUser -ExecutionPolicy Restricted

If prompted, type Y and press Enter.

Run Get-ExecutionPolicy to verify that it returns Restricted.

Once that's done, let me know if the setting was restored successfully.

As a next step, could you try creating a new local administrator account and check if Windows Search works normally there?

Since rebuilding the search index didn't resolve the issue, I'd recommend trying the additional troubleshooting steps in Microsoft's support article below

Please try the suggested solutions that apply to Windows 11, then let me know if there's any improvement or if the search is still taking too long.

If the issue persists, could you also confirm the following?

Does the delay happen when searching through the Windows taskbar, File Explorer, or both?

Are you also experiencing slow searches in Outlook (Microsoft 365)?

When was the last time Windows Search was working normally?

Have you made any recent changes to your computer recently?

Well - two things - First , you and nobody else at Windows absolutely do not have any idea how frustrating this is. If you did, you would have fixed this problem a LONG time ago. The Search Function is a very basic function and it seems to be at the bottom of your priorities. The internet is FULL of this complaint going back several years.

Second, I, and NOBODY in the business world wants to hire a dedicated IT team to fix problems that are DESIGN problems with the developer and I and NOBODY else int eh business world want to become IT specialists to deal with this BS.

I tried steps 1-4 of the solutions in the link - was able to perfom one search quickly but then it went right back to being slow again. When I tried the Powershell reset - you lost me and I can't seem to get the setting back to "Restricted." So now I have another problem - pls tell me how to fix that.

I understand your frustration. Windows Search should make it easy to find files and applications on your computer.

Before suggesting any fixes, could you clarify a few things?

Are you using Windows 10 or Windows 11?

When you search for something, does it return no results, show incomplete results, or take too long?

Does this happen with all searches or mainly with files saved on your Desktop?

I am using windows 11 and Office 365. ANY search takes TOOOO long. I have tried the re-indexing thing and that didn't seem to help.
