Contact Microsoft Support under Microsoft Account & Billing → Payment options & gift cards, because the current self-service redemption page accepts 25-character codes, while your legacy card has 30 characters.
What to do
- Open Microsoft’s customer-support page and select Get Help. ^1^
- Sign in with the personal Microsoft account on which you want the card balance.
- Enter a description such as:
Legacy Microsoft Store Canada gift card purchased in Calgary in 2016, powered by Fastcard, with a 30-character code and no expiry date.
- Choose:
- Microsoft Account & Billing
- Payment options & gift cards
- Chat with support or Call me back
- Keep the physical card and purchase receipt, if available. Give the complete code only to the support agent through the private support session—do not post it publicly.
This is the supported escalation used for older 16- or 30-character Microsoft Store cards; support can validate the card and assist with redemption. ^2^
Important regional requirement
Because the card states that it is for the Canada store, it can generally be added only to a Microsoft account registered in the jurisdiction for that currency, and the resulting balance cannot be converted to another currency or transferred to another account. ^3^
Do not change your account region merely to redeem it unless Canada is genuinely your long-term country or region. If your account is no longer Canadian, explain that to the support agent before redemption.
The ordinary online redemption page is unlikely to accept this legacy format because its documented process requires a 25-character code. ^4^
