Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Sign in with the Microsoft account that owns the subscription, cancel it from Services & subscriptions, and verify that recurring billing is off.
Cancel the subscription
- Open the Microsoft 365 cancellation page.
- Sign in with the same Microsoft account used to purchase the subscription.
- Select Cancel subscription; this may appear as Upgrade or Cancel.
- Review the cancellation details, then select I don’t want my subscription to confirm. [^1^](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Cancel a Microsoft 365 subscription")
- Return to Services & subscriptions and check the status:
- Expires on [date] or Turn on recurring billing means renewal is already disabled and no further renewal charge should occur.
- Next charge [date] means recurring billing remains active. [^2^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "What happens when your Microsoft 365 subscription expires | Microsoft Support")
If there is no Cancel option
- Confirm that you signed in with the Microsoft account that purchased the subscription.
- If it was purchased through Apple, Google Play, Amazon, or another retailer, cancellation must be handled directly by that provider; Microsoft cannot cancel or refund third-party subscriptions. - If there is an overdue balance, it must be paid before cancellation.
- If the charge continues after cancellation, check the subscription end date and whether a different Microsoft account owns the subscription. Microsoft notes that cancelling within two days of the billing date can still result in a charge. Before cancelling, download any important OneDrive files. After Microsoft 365 ends, storage returns to the free allowance; exceeding it can prevent OneDrive syncing and Outlook.com email activity.
