Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
You cannot change the card number on an existing payment method; add the replacement card as a new payment method, then assign it to your Microsoft 365 subscription.^1^
Add and assign the new card
- Sign in to Services & subscriptions using the Microsoft account that owns the subscription: https://account.microsoft.com/services
- Find Microsoft 365, then select Manage.
- Select Change how you pay.
- Select Add a new way to pay.
- Enter the new card number, expiration date, security code, cardholder name, and billing address.
- Save the card and select it as the payment method for the subscription.[^2^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Change your Microsoft subscription payment method and options | Microsoft Support")
Enter the billing details exactly as held by the card issuer. If the card is rejected, try the postal code both with and without spaces; payment methods also vary by region.^1^
If the option is missing
- Past-due subscription: Select Pay now, add the new payment method during that process, and complete the outstanding payment.[^3^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Pay for a past-due Microsoft subscription | Microsoft Support")
- Recurring billing is off: Change how you pay will not be available because the subscription is already paid through its end date.
- Prepaid subscription: Its payment method cannot be changed. Add the card to the account and use it when purchasing a new subscription after the prepaid term expires.
- Purchased through another retailer: The retailer manages the subscription and payment method, rather than Microsoft.[^2^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Change your Microsoft subscription payment method and options | Microsoft Support")
If the new-card form still will not accept input, try an InPrivate/Incognito browser window or another browser. If it remains unavailable, use Contact Support from the Microsoft payment troubleshooting page and choose the account/billing option; support can inspect account-specific billing restrictions.^4^
