Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Use this process to identify the subscription to keep and cancel the other one:
- Sign in to https://account.microsoft.com/services with the Microsoft account believed to be tied to the Best Buy purchase.
- Find the Microsoft 365 subscription.
- If Manage, Cancel, or Change payment appears, that subscription can be managed from that account.
- If options are limited or missing, the subscription may be managed by a third party.
- Repeat the same sign-in check with the other Microsoft account.
- Compare what appears under each account:
- The subscription purchased at Best Buy is a third-party purchase and must be managed through Best Buy directly.
- The subscription billed in October can be canceled in the Microsoft subscriptions page only if it was purchased from Microsoft.
- Cancel the subscription no longer needed:
- If it was bought from Microsoft: go to Subscriptions > Manage > Cancel and follow the prompts.
- If it was bought from a third party such as Best Buy, Apple, or Google Play: contact that provider directly to cancel or manage billing.
Important points for this situation:
- Always sign in with the same Microsoft account used to purchase the subscription.
- If Turn on recurring billing is shown instead of Manage, the subscription is already set to expire on the shown date and no further cancellation is needed.
- Microsoft cannot cancel, refund, or change billing for subscriptions purchased through third-party retailers.
- Personal Microsoft accounts and Microsoft 365 work or school accounts cannot be merged.
Before canceling, make sure the subscription being kept is the one currently used for apps and files. If files are stored in OneDrive on the account being canceled, download them first to avoid losing access to that account’s storage benefits after cancellation.
