Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Contact Microsoft 365 home support through live chat, provide the existing case number, and explicitly request reopening and escalation of the unresolved case rather than new account-recovery troubleshooting.
Reach a live support agent
- Open Contact Microsoft customer support.
- Sign in with a Microsoft account that works. If the affected account cannot authenticate, use another working email address for the support conversation.
- Under Microsoft technical support, select Get help.
- Enter: agent support
- Ignore the automated suggestions and select Contact Support at the bottom.
- Choose:
- Product: Microsoft 365 and Office
- Category: Technical Support
- Select Confirm, then choose Chat with a support agent in your web browser. This route is documented for paid Microsoft 365 home support and may present chat or another available contact option.^1^ The matching live-chat procedure is also described here.^2^
Chat availability can vary. If it is not offered, retry during normal business hours or use a regional support number listed on the official contact page.^1^
What to tell the agent
Paste this concise escalation request:
I have an active paid Microsoft 365 home subscription and an existing support case that was closed as resolved, but the issue remains. Word, Excel, Outlook, and OneDrive desktop applications cannot authenticate and continue presenting an email alias that has already been removed. Password resets and extensive troubleshooting have already been completed.
Please reopen the existing case, review its notes, and escalate it to a supervisor or the team responsible for Microsoft 365 desktop authentication and account-alias issues. Please do not start another password-reset workflow. My existing case number is: [case number].
Also provide:
- The date the case was marked resolved.
- The current primary alias, without posting it publicly.
- A screenshot of the incorrect alias prompt, with unrelated personal information hidden.
- Any exact error message or code.
- Confirmation that the subscription appears active in the account portal.
- A request for the new/reopened case number and escalation reference before ending the chat.
Microsoft Q&A moderators and community participants generally cannot access consumer account systems or reopen a support case, so the request must go through Microsoft Support.^3^
Important limitation
Support agents can investigate the Microsoft 365 authentication problem and escalate the case, but they are not permitted to send password-reset links or directly access and change personal-account details.^4^ That is another reason to frame this as an unresolved desktop authentication/alias case, not a password-reset request.
Do not remove or change additional aliases while waiting for the case review. Microsoft states that aliases share the same subscriptions, storage, settings, and password; changing them unnecessarily can complicate identification of the subscription-bearing account.^4^
