Old microsoft accounts

I have been trying to delete an old microsoft account because I can't change the password to get into my email account. I have forgotten my password, and it won't let me change it without knowing my current password. Did all the steps to get a code, got the code and then it tells me that method isn't available, try again later. I've been trying for months! Can't talk to anyone because I can't find a number to call. Very frustrating. How do I actually talk to someone at microsoft support?

    Hello Karen,

Please note that you must first regain access to the Microsoft account before you can delete it.

Here are some suggestions you can try:

    • Use the Microsoft Sign-in Helper and follow the option for a forgotten password or unavailable verification method.
    • If that does not resolve it, complete the account recovery form. Use a device and location previously used with the account. Include as much accurate information as possible, such as old passwords, contacts, and exact email subject lines.

If you still cannot recover the account, unfortunately, support agents cannot bypass the security checks, manually reset the password, or change the account details. These restrictions are in place to protect the account. However, I would still recommend contacting them to ask whether there are any other options you can try.

As this is a user-to-user forum, we cannot access your account or arrange a support call on your behalf. You can reach the support team by following the steps below:

    1.  Go to: https://support.microsoft.com/home/contact
    2. In the search box, enter a short description of your issue, then choose "Get Help"
    3. Scroll down and select Sign in to contact support (please sign in using a personal Microsoft account). Then follow the on-screen prompts to reach Support Team.

    Tips:

    • Support chat availability may vary by country/region, product, and support hours. If you can't get in touch with a chat agent right away, trying again later or at a different time may help.
    • If the support page directs you to the automated assistant, type “I need a live agent” in the chat.

Thank you so much for your patience!
