Ending on subscription and starting another for the same product

When I purchased this current laptop, I already had a Microsoft 365 Personal subscription via Amazon. It renews on 11/27/26, but I turned off auto renewal today. I have until 11/16/26 to claim the subscription that came with this laptop. Am I able to claim my one-year subscription before 11/16 while the Amazon subscription is still on this laptop? I wasn't given the option of a date when the subscription ends, just 11/27.

If the laptop offer supplies a 25-character Microsoft 365 Personal product key, claim it before November 16 using the same Microsoft account as the current Personal subscription; the additional year will be added to the remaining term rather than waiting as a separate subscription.

If the offer includes a product key

    1. Open https://microsoft365.com/setup.
    2. Sign in with the same Microsoft account currently associated with your Amazon Microsoft 365 Personal subscription.
    3. Enter the laptop offer’s 25-character key and complete redemption.
    4. Check the displayed expiration date after redemption. It should move forward by the time added by the offer—normally approximately one year beyond November 27, 2026.

Microsoft documents that multiple keys extend the subscription’s duration, up to a total of five years; they do not increase storage or the number of installations.[^1^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "How to renew your Microsoft 365 subscription | Microsoft Support") Turning off Amazon auto-renewal does not prevent this redemption—the Amazon term remains active until its stated expiration date.

If there is no 25-character key

A laptop’s “one year included” promotion may instead be an OEM/device-based offer activated through Windows or an Office app. Such offers may have different terms and may not stack with an existing subscription.^2^

    Before November 16:

    1. Open the laptop’s offer screen and inspect the terms for wording such as product key, extend an existing subscription, or new subscribers only.
    2. If the terms do not say whether it can extend an existing Microsoft 365 Personal subscription, contact the laptop seller or manufacturer and ask specifically whether the offer can be redeemed on an account that already has Microsoft 365 Personal.
    3. Do not wait until November 27 unless the seller confirms that claiming before then is disallowed; otherwise, the November 16 claim deadline could expire.

Continue managing the existing subscription’s billing through Amazon because subscriptions bought from third-party retailers are managed by that provider.[^3^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Where can I manage my Microsoft 365 subscription? | Microsoft Support")
