Bought the wrong microsoft 365 subscription

Dear Outlook Team,

My Microsoft 365 Single subscription includes 1 TB of storage, which is now full. I wanted to expand my storage by selecting "Get additional storage." However, during the checkout process, I realized that I had inadvertently purchased a new Microsoft 365 Single subscription, even though my current subscription is still valid.

Afterwards I upgraded to family. This should stay as is. Please only charge this upgrade, nothing else.

Could you please cancel this new subscription and refund the amount charged?

Thank you very much for your assistance.

Kind regards

    Hi @momo

I understand that you accidentally purchased an additional Microsoft 365 Personal subscription while trying to increase your storage, and that you later upgraded your existing subscription to Microsoft 365 Family. You would like to keep the Family subscription and request a cancellation and refund only for the additional Personal subscription.

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators, contributors including external Microsoft employees cannot directly intervene in Microsoft product features or access back-end systems. Our role is limited to providing technical guidance on reported issues, requests, or ideas only.

Please sign in to Microsoft Services & subscriptions using the Microsoft account associated with the purchase. Locate the additional Microsoft 365 Personal subscription, select Manage, and then choose Cancel or Upgrade or Cancel.

Before confirming the cancellation, please carefully check the subscription name and purchase date to ensure that you do not cancel the Microsoft 365 Family subscription you want to keep. Once cancelled, Microsoft will check whether the subscription is eligible for a refund.

If you cannot clearly distinguish between the two subscriptions, I recommend contacting Microsoft Support before cancelling anything:

    • Go to Contact Microsoft Support.
    • Select Show expanded list of products.
    • Select Outlook > Get Home support.
    • Enter Outlook live chat, then select Get Help > Contact Support.
    • Sign in with the affected account. If that is not possible, use another Microsoft account to view the available support options.
    • Ask our Support Assistant > Type "Talk to live chat agent" > Contact Support
    • Under Products & Services, select Other Products > Outlook, then choose Chat with a support agent in your web browser.

Please explain that you want to keep Microsoft 365 Family and cancel and refund only the accidentally purchased Microsoft 365 Personal subscription.

    Thank you for your understanding.
