    Hello Jesse Coleman,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Before we proceed, may I have a photo of the error and the photo of the settings to check for you? Please remember to remove all personal information before posting.

    I'm waiting for your reply.

Because multiplayer is already allowed, check whether the same Xbox profile used by both games is family-managed and whether its separate cross-network play privilege is blocked.

    1. Identify which account is being restricted

    1. Open Microsoft Family Safety at account.microsoft.com/family.
    2. Find the Microsoft account used in Minecraft and Roblox.
    3. Determine whether it appears as:
      • a family member/child, with another account listed as organizer, or
      • an adult account that is not managed.

Family organizers manage members’ permissions; child accounts cannot change certain Xbox privileges themselves.^1^

If it is a child or teen account but there is no organizer, add an adult organizer to the family group and have that organizer manage the affected account. A closely matched case involving a teen account without an organizer was resolved by placing it under an adult family account and reviewing the permissions again.^2^

    2. Check the separate cross-network privilege

Using the organizer account, open the Xbox Privacy & online safety settings from Family Safety, select the exact affected member, and inspect both:

    • You can join multiplayer games — already set to Allow
    • You can join cross-network play or You can play with people outside Xbox services — set to Allow if it is currently blocked

These are separate Xbox privileges: multiplayer controls online sessions, while cross-network play controls sessions involving players outside Xbox services.^3^ Minecraft also documents cross-network play as a separate family-safety control.^4^

Do not change the existing multiplayer setting again. Save only if another relevant setting was blocked.

    3. Refresh the account sessions

If both privileges already show Allow, refresh the sessions so every Windows app uses the same profile:

    1. Sign out of Minecraft Launcher, Roblox, and the Xbox app.
    2. Check the account signed into Microsoft Store.
    3. Sign back in, using the affected Microsoft account consistently, in this order:
      1. Microsoft Store
      2. Xbox app
      3. Minecraft Launcher or Roblox
    4. Restart Windows and test again.

Account alignment and reauthentication are recommended in closely matched Windows multiplayer cases.^5^ Allow some time after changing family permissions; one reported case took more than 24 hours to update, although that is an anecdotal outcome rather than a guaranteed synchronization period.^6^

If the restriction remains, press Win+R, run:

    wsreset

Wait for Microsoft Store to reopen, restart Windows, and test again.^5^

    Roblox-specific condition

If Roblox displays the exact message that a parent blocked access to games or apps not published by Microsoft, the adult who originally granted consent must:

    1. Open https://account.live.com/mk.
    2. Select Manage this child’s access to third party apps.
    3. Select Enable access.

Only the account that originally granted consent can manage this setting.^7^ Do not use this branch for a different error message.

If the problem continues, note the exact error text, whether Minecraft is Java or Bedrock/Minecraft for Windows, and whether Roblox is the Windows client or Xbox version. Then contact Microsoft Support for account-specific investigation, especially if the correct profile shows both privileges allowed after the session refresh.^7^
