I activated a new annual 365 licence today, setting up a new account, and downloaded the software. The account shows that the subscription expires in three months. How do I correct the expiration error?

    Is this on macOS?

Can you go to https://account.live.com > Subscriptions, and verify that the expiration date is correct, and it is not in 3 months?

    If so, on your device,

Please uninstall your Office apps. To uninstall, you move all Office apps, like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams to trash bin.

Please use the instruction here: https://support.microsoft.com/office/how-to-remove-office-license-files-on-a-mac-b032c0f6-a431-4dad-83a9-6b727c03b193 Download and run the license removal tool to clear any old cached license.

Then download the latest version from the link below, and then make sure you sign into the correct account.
