My wife and I are both regular users of ToDo - sharing lists for grocery, travel, movies to watch etc. Today I created a list for a new travel itinerary and shared the link via whatsapp. She clicked on the link>logged in> and got an error: Can't Join Link. See screenshot. Both our MS accounts are personal accounts (we dont have MS work accounts). We share lists, and tasks that we created today in these shared lists are still syncing between both our phones. But strangely MS is blocking sharing a new List.

To add: we also tried sharing the list via email, sharing other lists - nothing worked. Same error. We also tried the reverse: she created a list and shared with me, I got the same error.

Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated

    Hello Mikem,

Thank you for the detailed explanation.

I understand why this is confusing, especially because both accounts meet the sharing requirements and your existing shared lists are still working normally.

Based on the tests you have already completed, this no longer looks like a problem with the sharing method or an expired invitation. Similar failures with newly shared lists have recently been reported by other Microsoft To Do users, although Microsoft has not officially confirmed a broader service issue.

The most useful next step is to report this directly through Microsoft To Do > Settings > Get support > Contact us, so support can review the account and service-side sharing activity. Please include the approximate time the error occurred, both devices and app versions, and the screenshot with the account address concealed. You can also contact support following this flow:

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators and contributors, including external Microsoft employees, are not allowed to directly interfere with Microsoft product features or access back-end systems. Our role is limited solely to providing technical guidance on reported incidents, requests, or ideas.

    1. Open a website link - Contact - Microsoft Support
    2. In the box below "We're here to help", type Microsoft 365, click "Get Help", and then click "Contact Support" below.
    3. In this section, you will need to sign in to your Microsoft account.
    4. Select "Microsoft 365 and Office" under Products & Services, select "Technical Support" as the category, and click to confirm
    5. You can select " Chat with a support agent in your web browser " to access the chat window.

For now, your existing shared lists can still be used as a temporary workaround because synchronization there remains functional.

I’m sorry that there is no immediate fix available at this stage. If you receive any additional details or a response from the support team, please feel free to share the update here so we can assist further.
