Sending, receiving, and organizing email in Outlook on the web for business
Hi David,
I’m sorry you’ve run into this, especially when you’ve been given such a short deadline to complete the Outlook update.
Based on the screenshot you shared, Outlook on the web is displaying an Error 500 with Microsoft.Exchange.Clients.Owa2.Server.Core.OwaBasicUnsupportedException, which indicates that the current browser or browser mode is being recognized as unsupported.
I also noticed that the screenshot appears to show Outlook being accessed through a browser on an Android device, rather than through the Outlook desktop application on Windows.
As a first step, I would suggest trying the following:
- Make sure Google Chrome and Android System WebView are fully updated through the Google Play Store.
- If you have the Microsoft Outlook mobile app, update it to the latest available version and try accessing your account directly from the app.
- If you need to use Outlook through the browser, try the latest version of Chrome or Microsoft Edge. You can also try enabling Desktop site in the browser and signing in again.
- Try an InPrivate/Incognito window and clear the browser cookies/site data for Outlook before signing in again.
- If possible, try signing in to the same Outlook account from another supported browser or device. This can help determine whether the problem is specific to the current browser/device.
If the instruction to “update Outlook within one day” came from an email or message containing a link, I would also recommend not using that link again until you have confirmed that the message is legitimate. Instead, update Outlook through the official app store or the application's normal update mechanism.

I hope these steps help you get past the error and regain access to Outlook. Should you have any further questions, please feel free to let me know.
Best regards,
