Try these steps in order:
- Check that Wi‑Fi is not turned off by Airplane mode.
- Go to Start > Settings > Network & Internet > Airplane mode.
- Turn Airplane mode On, then Off.
- Select Wi‑Fi and make sure Wi‑Fi is On.
- Run the Windows network troubleshooter.
- Go to Start > Settings > Network and Internet > Status.
- Select Network troubleshooter.
- Follow the on-screen steps.
- Check whether the Wi‑Fi adapter is disabled.
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand Network adapters.
- If the Wi‑Fi adapter is listed, right-click it and select Enable device.
- Restart the WLAN service.
- Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- Find WLAN AutoConfig.
- Right-click it and select Restart.
- If Wi‑Fi settings are still missing, uninstall and reinstall the Wi‑Fi adapter driver.
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand Network adapters.
- Right-click the Wi‑Fi adapter and select Uninstall device.
- Restart the PC so Windows installs the driver again.
- This can temporarily disconnect all network access until restart is complete.
- After Wi‑Fi is restored, turn Mobile hotspot back on.
- Go to Start > Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile hotspot.
- Under Share my Internet connection from, choose the connection to share.
- Turn on Share my Internet connection with other devices.
If the Wi‑Fi option is missing entirely from Network & Internet, that usually points to the Wi‑Fi adapter being disabled or its driver not loading correctly. Mobile hotspot depends on Wi‑Fi, so it can disappear when Wi‑Fi is unavailable.
