Sending, receiving, and organizing email in Outlook on the web for business
Hi Sherri,
Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.
To set up automatic replies for a specific period of time, you can follow these steps:
- Select Settings in the upper-right corner.
- Go to Accounts > Automatic replies.
- Turn on Turn on automatic replies.
- Select Send replies only during a time period.
- Set the Start time and End time for your preferred period.
- Enter the message you would like to send as your automatic reply.
- If parents are using email addresses outside your school or organization, enable Send replies outside your organization.
You can also refer to the following documentation for more information:
Send automatic out of office replies from Outlook.com or Outlook on the web | Microsoft Support
However, standard Out of Office (OOR) replies are not suitable for automatically recurring on a daily schedule, such as from 5:00 PM until 8:00 AM the following morning, Monday through Friday.
If you would like to set this up to repeat automatically every day, you may consider using Power Automate to automate the process.
The flow could work as follows:
New email arrives > Check the sender > Check the time the email was received > If the email was received outside working hours, send an automatic reply > If the email was received during working hours, take no action.
Since my current support scope primarily focuses on Microsoft 365 products, while the solution you are considering involves Microsoft Power Automate, I want to make sure that you receive the most accurate and appropriate guidance. For this reason, I recommend posting your question on the Microsoft Power Platform Community Forum:
Microsoft Power Platform Community Forum Thread
There, you can receive guidance from community members and users who have more experience with Power Automate. Other users who regularly follow the forum may also be able to share their experience and suggest how to configure a flow that meets your requirements.
I apologize for having to direct you to another community. However, since the scope of this category primarily focuses on Microsoft 365, my in-depth knowledge of Power Automate is limited. Directing you to a more appropriate community will help ensure that you receive more specialized and accurate assistance.
If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to share them in the comments on this post so I can continue to support you.
I look forward to continuing the conversation.
