I am Canadian, have a Canadian billing address and history of accounts with Microsoft from Canada. I am currently in Thailand and trying to sign up for Azure services. The sign up auto fills to Thailand and I cannot change the region. It will not accept my Canadian credit card.

Please help

    Hi @jason pshyk

Microsoft's Azure sign-up rule is that your billing address must be in the country/region you select in the "About you" step. So the card isn't the problem. The sign-up just needs to be set to Canada so it matches the card. Travelling is fine, but the form has picked up Thailand from somewhere.

    Here's what I'd try:

    1. Check your Microsoft account's country. Sign in at account.microsoft.com, open Your info, and look at Country or region under profile info. If it shows Thailand, change it to Canada and save.
    2. Start the sign-up fresh. Close every Azure tab, open a private (InPrivate/Incognito) window, sign in with the same account, and start the Azure sign-up again. Check whether the country field in "About you" now shows Canada or lets you pick it.
    3. Enter the card exactly as your bank has it, with your Canadian billing address. Microsoft notes that a billing address that doesn't match your bank records is a common reason cards get declined.
    4. Phone verification works with your Canadian number, as long as it can receive an SMS or call from a US-based number while you're abroad.

If the form still won't let you choose Canada, Azure billing support can fix it. Sign-up and billing support doesn't need a paid plan. Please don't post card or account details here.

After changing your account's country, does the sign-up form still show Thailand?

If the sign-up goes through, please consider accepting it as the answer. If it stays locked to Thailand, let me know and I'll be happy to keep helping.
