Canceling an annual Microsoft 365 account

My (annual) Microsoft 365 account expires November 28, 2026. I do not want to renew it. I don't see an option to cancel recurring payments. The payment will be taken out of my PayPal account if it renews automatically. I do not want to renew. I still want to use Word and Excel until the expiration date. I never use OneDrive (I hate it) and I never use the Cloud (privacy issue). I only use Word and Excel, and all those files are saved to my computer (not somewhere else where anyone can read my personal information).

Today is October 28, 2026. If I cancel my 365 subscription today, can I continue to use Word and Excel until it expires on November 28, 2026? Simple question.

Yes. If recurring billing is turned off or the subscription is canceled, access continues until the expiry date.

In the Microsoft account subscription pages, if Turn on recurring billing is shown instead of a cancel option, that means recurring billing is already off and the subscription is set to expire on the date shown. In that case, no further action is required, and the subscription can still be used until it expires.

If the subscription is canceled, Microsoft states that access to subscription benefits continues until the end of the current billing period unless local laws or purchase terms provide otherwise. That includes continued use of the subscription until the expiration date.
